Burlap Sconce

DIY Burlap SconceI am so in Love with Burlap, as most of you are, and I look for things that I can stick it on!! I had these sconces I bought at Kirklands a while ago and they never really had a spot in my house that I really liked them in, I was ready to toss them, but then…why not make them into something I will love and can be one of a kind.

Burlap Sconce:

Supplies:

  • Mod Podge decoupage
  • sponge applicator
  • Burlap fabric
  • rotary cutter & mat
  • glass sconces

Instructions:

Cut a piece of burlap to match the height and width of your sconce with the rotary cutter. Spread the Mod Podge on the outside glass, then roll onto the burlap fabric. Make sure you do not have any frays cut them before you apply. I did not spread Mod Podge on the outside fabric to seal it in, because I like the natural look of the burlap. Let it dry. That’s it, so simple!!

I tried a few things and I think I can use these in a few different ways. My favorite is the nail head ribbon. I just cut the nail part of the nail heads off with a wire cutter and hot glued them on to a strip of burlap and tied the ribbon in the back. So now I have something unique that I don’t have to sell at a garage sale! Love them!

I too bought these sconce at Kirkland. I bought some scrape book paper and lined the cylinders. The color and style can be changed with events or season.
