Starfish Vignette & Knotted Shells

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new comforter set and I just love how that one thing can transform a room into something you never thought of. The comforter is a light teal, with pastel yellow, pink and taupe. It just screamed Key West to me, (or maybe it’s the fact that I am sick of winter and need a vacation.) So I decided to make my bedroom a coastal retreat. What can be more peaceful than that!

I found this great reclaimed wood grill type thing, that reminded me of a lobster crate and I just went with it. I loved all the banners everyone has done out there and I had a few on my Pinterst boards I had my eye on for a while. Here is my version of them.

Get random sized starfish and tie twine around them, add hot glue for strength. Loop a piece of twine across your board and tie the starfish onto it. The green demijohn bottle is a wine bottle, I just removed the label with rubbing alcohol. (Take that Pottery Barn!) Find a great jar fill with sand and add random shells. And that’s it!

I had left over shells, so I strung them on twine with hot glue, bunched them together, tied them in a knot, and added a small pic I had. This is super easy stuff that makes a great impact on your decor.
