I just love those fabric lined jewelry boxes from Pottery Barn Teen, but $80 was a bit much. Yikes! Last week, I saw the knock-offs at Target, along with the regular jewelry boxes and I just knew what to do!
My daughter already had a really nice jewelry box, but when she was younger she decided she wanted to bling it up with stickers! Well sticker glue is stubborn, so with some good ole rubbing alcohol and some elbow grease, I finally got the glue off! Here’s how I did the rest….
Glamorous Jewelry Box Updo
- White matte spray paint
- 1/4 yard of funky fabric
- Mod Podge decoupage
- Sponge applicator
- Rotary cutter & mat
- Hot glue & gun
I did not coat Mod Podge on top of the fabric because it was cordoroy and I wanted the soft feel of the fabric for the jewelry. For the ring holder, I pulled the foam bumps open, not taking them off the card they were on, and put a line of hot glue in the creases, then push the fabric down in between the foam humps with a piece of cardboard or a smoothing card for vinyl.
Hot glue the necklace holders back on, hot glue the ring holder back in and that was it!!
