If you saw my last post about the Chalk Paint ~Vintage Side Table, I am sure you noticed this “Gather” sign in my Gallery Wall pic! I just love it!! I saw a similar one in Home Goods and it has been stuck in my head ever since. While putting together this quick Gallery Wall to accent my cute new table, I knew I needed to use this sign, it was the perfect color and size, but the wording was all wrong. So I turned it over and went to work making something completely different! Here’s what I did..
Materials: Printer, X-Acto Knife, X-Acto paper-cutter, rotary mat, spray paint, spray glue and sand paper.
First I picked a font that would look nice on the size of the wood piece I was going to use. I used the Georgia Font. Then sized it to fit and flipped the letters using Picmonkey. Save each letter and print them out. I cut them out and lined them up on a yardstick to make sure they were in a straight line and taped them together.
*Now I was going for the hand painted technique ~where you then take a paint brush with water and paint it over the back of the paper and it stains the outline of the letters on the wood. Then just hand paint. But that method would not work for me. I know I have the right kind of printer, the ink just didn’t show up on the wood. So back to the old X-Acto knife way. Man I need a Silhouette.
Cut the inside of the letters out and flip the paper and align on wood. Spray with spray glue and realign onto wood. Lightly spray paint over stencil in small strokes. Peel off stencil. Sand any over spray lightly with the sandpaper. And that’s it! I love it~ it looks fabulous in my dining room! Super easy to make such a huge impression on my gallery wall. It wouldn’t complete without it.

Kim, you are such a great designer! You go gal! Thank you for sharing and contributing to the link party at
I always appreciate the inspiration you share at Potpourri Friday!
I love how it all turned out. Though, if I showed D this, he would want it to say “Assemble” (like from the Avengers) instead of Gather. And this is why he isn’t in charge of decorating in our house…
Thanks for sharing on Tout It Tuesday! Hope to see you tomorrow.
I love it, so gorgeous!
