Spooky Shabby Rag Garland

Spooky Shabby Rag Garland

I love the look of the shabby fabric strip rag garlands. And because they are so scrappy looking, I knew I wanted to make a creepy version for my dining room for Halloween.

This type of garland is super easy to make out of left over  fabric from past projects. Just add some Creepy Halloween fabric to it and it takes on a whole new spooky feel. Here’s how to make it~

Spooky Shabby Rag Garland

Supplies:

  • Seven different kinds of fabric
  • Linen
  • Canvas
  • Light blue & tan tulle
  • Black cotton
  • White gauze fabric
  • Beige creepy fabric
  • Natural sisal jute rope
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and mat

Cut fabric strips with rotary cutter

Cut all of the fabric to 22-25 inch strips with a rotary cutter.

Cut the sisal rope to the length you want your garland. Be sure to leave the ends of the rope a little longer on each end to tie a knot to make it easier to hang it up. Since you are using a bunch fabric this garland can tend to get quite heavy when it is finished.

Make a Rag Garland

Fold the strip of fabric in half. Place the loop end under the rope, then pull the loose tail ends through the loop. Pull tight on the tail end to make a snug knot. Repeat the knots with each different kind of fabric, placing them close together on the rope. And that’s it! Soo easy and so pretty.

  1. I love this – not only because it is cool looking but because it is simple!! I love the “something wicked” signs beneath and the cobweb crusted skeleton on your table! So great for decor. Pinned!
