Beach Bag Pom Tassel makeover madeinaday.com

It’s time for another Thrift Store Upcycle Challenge and this time I am sharing how to make an easy pom and tassel beach bag. I love finding a great basket tote and thrift stores usually have them for around $3.

Who wants a plain basket tote though? I think they could all use a little pizzaz and it’s super easy to dress one up with some simple ball trim, tassel trim and a cute tassel charm. Bohemian purses and bag are super trendy this year. Let me show you how to make a great bag in minutes that won’t break the bank! Let’s make a tote!

I got my bag for a whopping $2.99!

Fabric trim for tote bag

Start adding your tassel trim (white trim) first.

Make a Tassel bag

Begin glueing the trim on the side of the tote. Glue ends together when they meet. Glue a layer of ball trim on the top of the tassel trim. Next glue the accent ribbon over the ball trim. I used hot pink ribbon to accent the inside of the bag.

Add the Pom & Tassel Charm the center of the bag and that’s it! Super easy to make and a fraction of the cost of department store bags!

  1. Your totes are so pretty and colorful now!! It’s fantastic you got that one for less than $3!! They are so expensive here! I will have my eyes open from now on when visiting thrift stores.

    1. Thank’s Paula, I actually have four the other two are regular canvas totes I used them for vacation instead of lugging a backpack. Definitely cuter than a backpack.
