During our summer vacation we went to Salem, Massachusetts to linger around take the tours and escape the heat. The history of this quaint town is so enthralling. I always find a lot of inspiration for crafts in unique locations. See my day trip to Salem Post for all the juicy details of my trip!
Looking through the gift shops I found myself drawn to some doll-like witch figurines. When I got home I couldn’t stop thinking about them, so I decided to recreate a similar version using a foam cone! Isn’t she fabulous? Let me show how I made this elegant witch so you can have her for your own magical decor this season.

Dress: Smooth out the ruffled fabric so the ruffles lay correctly. Turn the fabric upside down.
Pin the fabric to the cone using straight pins.
Glue the fabric together in a single even seam down the cone. Match the ruffles on each side as you glue.
Cut the creepy fabric to 17 1/4 inch x 9 1/2 inch. Drape the fabric from the top of the foam and fold the top corners back to make a cape.
Glue the fabric to the ruffle fabric on the cone to the top and just inside the collar.
Face: Paint the acorn bottom with the lime green acrylic paint. Let it dry. Remove the wire from the floral pick and insert the square end into the bottom of the acorn. Hot glue the pick in place.
Add the false eyelashes to the acorn with hot glue.
Trim off a 4-5 inch section of the feather boa. Insert the pick with the acorn into the center of the boa. Poke a hole in the top of the cone and fabric, then insert the head pick.
Hat: Drape the yard of tulle over the front of the hat leaving it flowing down the back of the hat. Secure it with a dot of glue on left side. Add three feathers from the boa to the hat with glue. Add glue to the inside rim of the hat and fit over the top of the acorn.
Broom: Cut raffeta into 22 inch strips. Fold the raffeta in half and insert the end of the branch to the center of the folded loops.
Wrap black wire tightly around the raffeta. Trim ends if they are too long,
This witch figure will be the perfect addition to your Halloween decor unless if you are a fan of the Broadway Show Wicked. Then she could stay up all year!
