Looking for the latest trends in holiday decor without breaking the bank? Then look no further! With a little help from Oriental Trading Company’s Christmas Store I am going to show you how to decorate for the holidays with a trendy boxwood wreath for a fraction of the cost in retail stores.

Then I will show you how something as simple as cute red lanterns filled with snow, bottle brushes and a sweet little deer is the perfect finishing touch for your home decor during the holidays.

It seems every magazine you open has a boxwood wreath in a furniture scene these days. To jump on the bandwagon and get the look for my own decor, I opted to try some of Oriental Trading Company’s boxwood garlands and wire wreath forms to try make them into a wreath!

To my surprise the garland was long and thick enough to make a wreath out of it! It turned out great! Here’s how I made mine~

DIY Boxwood Wreath

Supplies:

1 Boxwood Garland 12 foot

1 18 inch Wire Wreath Frame

Zip Ties

Heavy Duty Scissors

Instructions:

Start by zip tying the end of the garland to the outer edge of the wire wreath.

Work around the wreath going inward to the center. Zip tie the garland every 4-5 inches until you reach the center. The size of this garland fits evenly from start to end on their 18 inch size wire wreath base. Trim off the extra zip tie ends.

Fluff the wreath, add a bow and hang!

This wreath came out so great! This is a fantastic alternative to buying the pricey real ones. I love how it came out and they really do look like the real ones!  I think these would make great outdoor wreaths for the front door or a patio since they are plastic.

My next fun project is styling this set of red lanterns for winter, they can be found in the Christmas Decoration Shop.

All you need is some faux snow, a bottle brush tree and a sweet mini deer and you have one of the hottest trends going this year! The kids will love peering into these sweet lanterns. These cuties are sure to bring out the magic of the holidays.

I hope you enjoyed my holiday tips and tricks to create my vignette around my hall tree! I just love it! Red adds that perfect pop of color to greet guests when they arrive! Stay tuned for more fun projects and decor from Oriental Trading Companies Christmas Store. Enjoy!

  1. I love the lanterns! I stuck a few pine cones in mine, but this is much cuter!

  2. That’s such a great idea to use a boxwood garland to make a wreath. So using this idea. And I fill glass bottles to create mini winter scenes, so I like that idea too 🙂

    1. These came out really great, better than expected. My house has one in every room now lol.
