DIY Birch Tree Wall Art

Last week I posted my Gold Feather Wall Art, well here’s another easy DIY pic I added to my Gallery Wall series. I took a thrift store canvas, one of many that I have been collecting for awhile now for random projects around the house. I painted the canvas a solid grey color, then hand painted some Birch trees and added a sweet heart using my Silhouette Cameo. Here’s how I made it!

Paint the canvas with grey acrylic paint with a sponge applicator.

Paint over thrift store canvas

It took around three coats to get it completely covered. Paint the edges of the canvas black. Let it dry overnight.

how to paint a birch tree

With a pencil draw the birch trees first. Make sure one tree is larger than the rest so you can add your heart. I used a pic of the trees online as a guide.

Paint the birch trees white. Let them dry.

Paint the knots on the trees with the grey paint. Let it dry.

With your Silhouette find a heart design {I already had one n my library} and then add your + text to the center of it. Cut it out using a mat and the foil paper. Remove the heart and stick it to your painting. Or you could….

hand paint a heart with a gold paint pen.

And that’s it! I love this cute custom pic. It is a sweet addition to my Gallery Wall, the post for that is coming soon! So stay tuned for the final reveal.

Hi Kim! I love this project because of how the canvas looked before! I love taking something old and making something new! I am in the middle of updating my bedroom and this would be perfect! Pinned it so I can come and try to make one myself! Dropping in from Brag About It! Thanks for the inspiration!
