Summer is almost over and school has finally begun. To get back into the routine of things, my daughter and I created a quiet corner in her room to study and do her homework. And thanks to Tulip Paint, I was able to try out their new premium line of home decor stencils and fabric paints, Tulip for Your Home. I used them to decorate a super cute one of a kind burlap organizing set for her desk.
I don’t know about you but I love when the weather gets cooler and all the new seasonal items appear in the stores. I had so much fun at Hobby Lobby discovering all the new decorative items for fall and the upcoming holidays. This store truly is one of my favorites to visit.
Check out the New Tulip for Your Home section like the one above while your there, there are so many choices in stencils and colors, the projects are endless. The premium paint and stencils are designed to work on all your fabric and textile surfaces, like pillows, curtains, and even canvas wall art.
Stenciled Desk Set and Gym Bag
Found in Hobby Lobby:
- Burlap Desk set: magazine holder, desk organizer
- Me & My Bag Drawstring Backpack
- Tulip Soft Paint in gold metallic and black
- 2 14″x14″ large Tulip stencils: Chevron, Polka dots
- 1 8″ Tulip stencil: Flower
- Tulip Stencil Adhesive Spray
- Tulip sponge roller, sponge applicator or a paintbrush
Spray your Tulip Stencil adhesive on the matte side of your stencil and place it over the area to be painted. I love this adhesive, it makes your stencils stay put on the fabric and it helps to keep the paint from bleeding under the stencil.
For the burlap magazine holder, I used a paintbrush to apply the paint to the chevron stencil in order to get the gold paint deep into the burlap fabric. I used the polka dot stencil and black paint applied with a sponge applicator to the front end of the magazine holder.
After the gold chevron stripes were dry I painted a corner of the flower stencil on the magazine holder. Next, I painted the desk organizer with gold Chevron Stencil and the Black paint Polka Dot Stencil to match the magazine holder. Let them dry.
And since we were in need of a new gym bag this year. I painted this cute drawstring backpack with gold paint using the Polka Dot Stencil.
I hope you enjoyed this project. It is a super easy back to school idea and can be done quickly in one afternoon. You can find the Tulip for Your Home product line and Fabric Paint at any of your local craft stores.
