Once the turmeric has fully dissolved and the water has reached the boiling state (about 15 minutes) Remove the pot from the heat.
Let the mixture cool and pour it into a large measuring cup to measure out the cups remaining after the liquid boiled down.
Add in the correct amount of vinegar and stir to blend. (1 tbsp per cup). Add the turmeric liquid to a bowl.
Add the eggs to the bowl. Making sure they are fully covered by the water.
Let them sit in the turmeric until the desired color of yellow is reached. Anywhere from 2-8 hours. Ours sat in the dye for 8 hours overnight to get the yellow coloring in the pics.
Notes
TIPS:
These eggs will dye pretty evenly, but will have some speckles from the turmeric.
It’s important you use the right amount of vinegar. Too little and the eggs won’t hold the dye well. Too much, and the vinegar will start eating the shell of the egg.
You can dye your eggs for varying times, you don’t have to leave them in as long as we did. You’ll just end up with varying shades of yellow.
Apply a clear wax crayon to draw on designs on your eggs before dying them.
