I finally got out the decorations and finished putting them up, it was tough since I needed a vacation from Thanksgiving. Ha! I’m exhausted already and it’s not even December! I am always trying to change up the decorations yearly for the holidays and this super simple project was just the thing to change the decor without having to go out and buy anything. I took old plastic ornaments I no longer used and mixed up some chalk paint and got to work. Here’s how I did it!
Materials: Chalk Paint, sponge applicator, 220 sandpaper.
Use plastic ornaments with grooves and rough areas to shabby up. Pull the silver end with the loop for a hook off. Mix up some Chalk Paint (see recipe below, omit the wax paste). Paint your ornaments using a sponge applicator and let them dry. Take the sandpaper and gently rub off the paint so you don’t damage the paint underneath already on the ornament. I find if you rub off the chalk paint when the paint is almost dry it sands easier. If you mess up just touch up the paint let dry and sand again. And that’s it~ they came out too cute! What a great way to reuse something you would of just tossed away!
