This year I wanted my Thanksgiving Dinner to have a natural rustic feel to it, so made this cute sticks and twigs turkey centerpiece for my table, it is one of my projects for JoAnn Fabrics Celebrate the Season Campaign.
I don’t know about you but, I am starting to get in the holiday mood. And, after looking at this years Simply Creative Christmas Holiday Booklet, you will too, there are so many wonderful ideas for the holidays in there so check it out!
Rustic Turkey Centerpiece
Materials needed found in JoAnn Fabrics Craft Stores:
- 1 Autumn Inspirations Twig Pumpkin
- 1 Darice Assorted Twig Bundle
- 1 Small narrow pine cone
- Natural dried wheat stems
- DCWV Corrugated Naturals Stack Scrapbook paper
- Martha Stewart Crafts Iridescent Glitter, Lemon Drop
- Bronze Metallic Spray Paint
- Fiskars Mixed Media Thick & Heavy scissors
- Hot glue and gun
Take apart the bundle of twigs and lay them fanned out evenly on a flat surface. Take a piece of the corrugated scrapbook paper and trim the corners to make a rounded edge. Add a generous amount of hot glue to the flat side of the corrugated paper. Press it to the fanned out twigs. Let the glue dry a few minutes then turn it over and this is your guide for the twigs and base for the tail of your turkey.
Add the rest of your twigs, hot gluing them to the corrugated paper as you go. Next trim and add your wheat stems to fill in the gaps.
Add glue to the base of the twig tail and press to the bottom of your pumpkin. Trim the tail to make the twigs even with heavy-duty scissors.
Glue the pine cone to the pumpkin stem to make the turkey head. Lightly spray paint with bronze spray paint to cover hot glue drips. Then as the paint is drying, sprinkle with the fine glitter to make your turkey sparkle!
