Welcome to the 2016 Ornament Exchange & Blog Hop! This year, there are 11 pairs of partners or 22 talented ladies participating in the exchange.

My Ornament partner gave some hints to what she loves to decorate with for the holidays. She has turquoise and silver decor, so I made her this sweet Painted Driftwood Tree Ornament to hang on her coastal themed decor and tree!

Painted Driftwood Tree Ornament

Supplies:

  • Driftwood Pieces
  • Acrylic Paint: white, silver, light teal, dark teal
  • Hot glue & gun
  • Blue Painters Tape
  • Star Stencil
  • Jute Twine

Instructions:

Select unique pieces of driftwood in sizes from small to large. Choose one long piece for the base to glue the tree to secure it.

Paint each piece of the tree with a different pattern and colors. Use painters tape to keep sharp lines between colors of paint. Let them dry.

I used a small star stencil for the top of the tree. Hot glue all the pieces to the base driftwood. Glue on a piece of twine to hang the ornament.

Now onto the Hop!

The rules of the challenge were simple – create a handmade ornament for under $15 to exchange with a partner and create a tutorial to share on the blog hop!

  1. What a clever idea! I love using driftwood in craft projects, but never thought to create an ornament out of them. And the unconventional colours work so well. Just love how this turned out 🙂
