Back To School Clean Out Challenge

Back-to-school season always sneaks up on me! Before rushing out to buy new school supplies for kids, I like to do a quick clean-out around the house.

It’s amazing how many pencils, notebooks, markers, and other school and office supplies seem to disappear into drawers, backpacks, and craft bins throughout the year.

Turning the clean-out into a fun game makes the whole process a lot easier—and the kids are much more willing to help!

This fun cleaning challenge is a simple way to make decluttering feel less like a chore and more like a challenge. Kids can hunt for supplies, clean out their closets and sort everything into piles, and see how much they can find before shopping for anything new.

It’s a great way to teach organization while getting everyone excited for the new school year!

How to Play the Challenge :

This challenge is a fun way to clear out your old stuff and make more space in your room and your home.

  • The goal of the Challenge is to reach 100 points. You and your grown-up(s) decide together what your reward will be when you get to 100.
  • Use the Tracker ruler to chart your progress as you work your way up to 100 points. You can color it in or draw a line whenever you get to a new level.
  • Use the 16 Categories to find things that belong to you that you can donate or toss. Your grown-up(s) will tell you how many points each item is worth. You can tick up to 10 checkboxes per Category. Remember to show each item to your grown-up(s) first and make sure they agree with it.
  • If you have sibling(s), they might also be playing the Challenge using their own Tracker. Remember that it’s not a race or a competition – everyone can win!

It’s a wonderful way to help another family while clearing out your own space.
Once you’ve gathered everything together, you’ll know exactly what you already have and what you still need to buy.

Not only does this save money on school supplies for kids, but it also helps keep your home a little more organized before the busy school year begins. I hope this printable turns your back-to-school prep into a fun family tradition!
