Atrium Garden Ideas + Our Bathroom Makeover Preview!

One of the coolest things about our small beach house is that we have an atrium in our hall bathroom. It’s a bathtub-sized space behind the bathtub.

The previous owners planted a few plants in there and over the last two years, it has started looking pretty shabby. The weeds are relentless in this area so it’s tough to keep it looking good.

Our 1950’s home was made over some years ago to update things and make it look more modern. They added an awesome kitchen, floors and redid the bathrooms. One thing I wonder is why they didn’t extend this bathroom, remove the cast iron tub and add a large shower.

They had the atrium space to work with. They could have used it to create a larger bathroom. If I decide this is my forever home I just may do it. For now, I am going to make taking a shower with weeds a little more enjoyable by making over the atrium.

I am partnering with my friends at Wayfair.com to makeover this fun spot in our home. My idea is to, #1 clean it out. #2 add some rocks for the base and #3 ad some fun garden statues and hanging plants.

My first thought was to add a large Buddha statue with rocks and make it a very zen space. That was until I found a cooky tiki totem pole and a large pineapple statue. The design did a one-eighty and now has an island-style feel to it. This will give our beachy surf shack an island-style bathroom.
