This fun display was part of a challenge by my friends at Hometalk.com, Micheals.com, and Pinterest! We were challenged to come up with a creative way to decorate for Valentine’s day using items from my local Micheals store!

We then set up a station at our local Michaels Craft Store to show consumers how I made it! Here’s how I came up with this Valentine garland DIY idea.

While walking the isles at my local Michaels store, I found some fun mini chalkboard clipboards and that’s when the vision of the DIY Valentine banner came to mind! I grabbed a chalkboard sign stand to go along with it.

Here’s how I made this simple fun Valentine vignette.

Supplies: Found in Michaels Crafts Stores:

The Font I used for the Chalkboard clipboards is Handy George.

Instructions:

To make the chalkboard clipboards for the banner, find a font on a photo editor, write the word you choose to use and print them out on a paper to use as a guide. Use a ruler and draw the letters with regular chalk.

Then go back over the letters, still using your ruler as a guide with a white chalkboard pen.

Take the chalkboard banner paper and cut a strip off of each side of the banner with scissors, to make the slender center strip.

Add the Studio 18 Shape tape dots randomly to the strips and tie the Clipboards to a strip of jute rope with the jute twine.

washi tape on clips

Add wide Chevron Washi tape to the clips and trim with scissors. Add your chalk banner strips using the clip pins.

How to make the Chalkboard Sign:
