Santa’s Magic Key is a special key that “unlocks” your door, allowing Santa to deliver presents to homes without chimneys. It’s a wonderful way to explain how the jolly old elf gets inside when there’s no fireplace, and it adds an extra layer of excitement for children.

How to Use Santa’s Magic Key
- Download and print the free tags on cardstock for durability.
- Cut them out and attach one to your special key with string, ribbon, or twine.
- Add the tag with the poem from your child to the key.
- Before bedtime on Christmas Eve, place the key outside your front door, under the mat, or somewhere special.
- On Christmas morning, switch out the poem to the one from Santa. Thanking them for the key and saying how it helped him deliver the presents!
Do I need a special key for this activity?
- Not at all! You can use any decorative key you have right now or create your own with craft supplies.
- You can use a key you already have. You can decorate it by painting it or adding glitter to it. Add whatever you like to make it a special key.
- Use the paper key I provided in the set. You can do a simple laminate by adding clear packing tape to both sides of the paper to make it more durable.

Printable Magic Santa Key Poem Tags
Instructions:
- Click the link below to download the PDF to print.
- Print the templates out using white cardstock. Use the printer setting US Letter. Use the borderless paper setting on your printer to get the designs to go to the edge of the pages.
- Trim on the “cut lines” using a paper cutter. Cut the holes on the tags with a hole puncher.
- Add a ribbon or string to the tag and add to your key!
