Spring Wreath Time!!

Spring Monogram Burlap Wreath

This week my mind was in crafty overload thinking about making wreaths! I have double front doors so I have been putting off making them, because of the fact I have to make wreaths instead of one! I have also been meaning to make some of the felt and cloth flowers you see everywhere. Here’s what I came up with…..

Spring Wreaths

Supplies:

  • Large monogram letter (Hobby Lobby)
  • small birdhouse
  • straw wreaths  {two 18 in, a small 12in}
  • Burlap fabric (burlap shown are burlap coffee bags}
  • Random spring colored fabric scraps
  • Silk flowers and vines
  • buttons
  • twine
  • hot glue & gun
  • rotary cutter & mat

First up I love, love those large gold letters at Hobby Lobby and I wanted to incorporate one into one of my wreaths. I took the two straw wreaths and covered them with burlap fabric.

Cut burlap in 3 to 4 inch strips

Cut the burlap into 3-4in wide strips with a rotary cutter.

Make burlap strips
Wrap Straw wreath with burlap

Hot glue the strips wrapping them around the wreath in one direction, {I leave the plastic on the wreath, the glue seems to adhere better}.

Monogrammed Wreath:

Hot glue the large letter on one side of the wreath. I found a great large teal paper flower at Hobby Lobby, turned it inside out to flatten it. Glue it on the wreath as a starting point for the flowers.

Fill Fower with jute string

Take a daisy and hot glue jute twine in a spiral to the center of the flower.

Take scraps of fabric and rolled them to make rosettes and some felt flowers. I had some great rope coasters that just wouldn’t hold a glass right without tipping it over, so I hot glued a flower to the center of them, they worked out awesome!!  Add some random buttons. The flowers are identical for each wreath. One wreath has a monogram letter one has a birdhouse.

The smaller wreath in this post, I made for my guest bedroom. My bedding is bright and cheery with lots of bright colors. I was having a tough time finding something to go with the flower pattern on the comforter. This wreath came out great and matches perfectly.

Cover a small 12 in wreath in a light green/taupe shade burlap. Like above I cut burlap strips and hot glued them around the straw wreath.

Fabric felt flower

For the teal flower, I made a simple pattern out of cardboard and cut out two sets in teal felt. I simply pinched them together and hot glued them in the center then fluffed them up.

To make it pop I  hot glued a small yellow silk flower to the center. Add a couple of rosettes, jute centered daisy and buttons. That’s it! Soo easy, I just love it!
