Caution, these Easy Blood Spatter Curtains are not for the faint at heart! I just finished watching all of the Dexter episodes and I have blood on the brain, lol! I knew after watching that crazy addicting tv series I would have to incorporate it into my Halloween inspiration this year.

So today I’m going to show you how easy it is to turn thrift store sheets and some red acrylic paint into a hideous bloody disaster. And… it’s my husband Birthday as well, so I made him his own Blood Spatter Happy Birthday Banner to go with the curtains. See the end of this post for the FREE Printable Banner! Here’s how I did it~  

Blood Spatter Curtains

Supplies:

• 1 Queen/Full White Sheet
• 1 Large Cup of Coffee
• Dark and Light Red Acrylic Paint
• Gloves
• Heavy Duty Scissors
• Natural Jute Rope

Instructions:

Cut the sheet in half longways. Grab and cut various uneven holes in each drape. At the top edge of the sheets cut 2-inch vertical slits at 6 inches apart.

Then weave your rope through them to hang the drapes. Place the drapes in a bathtub or large sink and pour a large cup of coffee over them, this will make them look old and worn.

Squeeze and ring the coffee through the fabric. Do not rinse. Hang the sheets over your shower head to dry overnight.

Pour a generous amount of each red shade acrylic paint onto paper plates. I used dark and light red colors to add to the creepiness. Wearing gloves, dip your hand in the paint.

Make handprints and smears all over the fabric. Be careful the paint will bleed through the fabric, so make sure you have the area under the sheet protected. Let them dry.

Weave the rope in and out of the vertical slits in the top of the sheets. Tie a knot at the end of the rope and hang them up! Super easy and scary as heck!

For the Bloody Banner, I used a Silhouette Cameo to cut the banner out. But have no fear!! If you do not have a die-cut machine you can still get this creepy banner!

Here’s how~ Download and print the letters out on regular white copy paper. Lay the copied sheet over a sheet of red cardstock and trace the outside of the letter with an X-Acto knife.

Hot glue the letters to a string, or in my case I used a faux barb wire garland. {For the small letter i, I used a small piece of jute twine hot glued in the back of the letter to hold the dot over the lower part of the I, then glued it to the garland}.
