Tropical plants and palms are popping up for home decor this spring! I wanted to create a fun arrangement/wreath with a fun retro vibe.
It’s super easy to create. Just cut a second piece foam to add to the center of a wreath to make the larger bottom piece. Then wrap the entire wreath with ombre yarn. Add your tropical floral bunches and you have one unique wall hanging! Let’s get started!
Boho Tropical Plant Wreath
Supplies:
- FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam: White Wreath Size: 18 inch, Foam Sheet Size: 36 x 2 inch
- FloraCraft® Foam Cutter or Sharp knife
- Ombre Blended Yarn: Beige/White (Cappuccino): 2 Skeins
- Leather Strap: 3/4 x 19 inch
- Brass Ring Jewelry Finding: 1 3/4 inch
- Low Temp Glue & Gun
- Faux Tropical Hanging Plant Stems, (Michaels)
Instructions:
Cut the foam sheet down to a square that is wider than the inner part of the wreath. Lay the wreath on top of the foam sheet.
Draw a circle and cut it out with a foam cutter. It should look like a crescent moon shape as shown above.
Cut the shape out with a foam cutter and fit it inside the wreath. Push, pinch and press the foam to smooth down any edges and get a perfect fit. Glue the half circle of foam inside the wreath with low-temp glue. Cut the inside top of the wreath down so it is narrower at the top of the wreath.
Optional: You can add toothpicks in between the foam pieces for a secure hold.
Glue the end of the yarn to the wreath and start wrapping evenly around the wreath until completely covered. Be sure to put on your favorite Netflix binge show while you wrap! Depending on the size of the yarn it could take a while to wrap the wreath.
NOTE: The yarn that I chose was not dyed evenly and tough to get the pattern to match. Keep this in mind when choosing your yarn pattern. Some patterns are better matched than others.
Add the brass ring to the leather strap and glue it to the top of the wreath. Cut the tropical stems apart from their main base with wire cutters and insert wire ends into the bottom left of foam circle and that’s it!
This came out sooo cool! I love how funky retro it is! This is a great way to add a boho feel to any room!
Love it? Pin it!

Ingenious! I was wondering how you got that shape from foam, what a creative solution! It looks AMAZING! I really like the ombre effect on the yarn that you chose as well. Going to pin this to several of my boards!
This is great! I never would have guessed you made it out of foam. Love how the leaves tumble down from it, too. Perfect retro decor!
Super creative! Love the look.
