First off this is not the game that uses only merchant “gift cards” as gifts. Although, you could if you only use gift cards if wanted to. This game is a downloadable card set with prompts to play the pass the present game.
This fun Christmas card game is perfect for family get-togethers, office parties, or classroom celebrations, and it works for groups of all sizes!
How to Play the Pass the Gift Card Game:
- Prepare the Gifts: Each participant is to bring a wrapped gift. You can set a price limit to keep things fair or assign a theme to make the gifts more interesting.
- Shuffle and Deal the Cards: Print and cut out the game cards, then shuffle them well. Give each participant a card or have them draw one from the deck before the game starts. I added extra blank cards so you can write in your own fun ideas or create a fun custom game!
- Start the Gift Exchange: Decide who will kick off the game. Choose the youngest or oldest player to go first. Participants take turns drawing cards or acting on the card they’ve been given. The cards will guide the flow of the exchange by prompting them to swap, steal, or unwrap gifts.
- Let the Fun Begin: The game continues until all gifts have been opened. The swapping and stealing will make the process more fun, with the best part being that no one knows which gift they’ll end up with until the very end!
Game Variations:
- Three gift swaps and you’re out of the game. If you get a gift stolen from you three times during the game, you are out of the game and can no longer be stolen from.
- At the end of the game, the first person gets to swap once with no additional swapping allowed.

Instructions:
