For this project, I joined some of my favorite bloggers for the January De-Stash Challenge! The challenge is to use up some of your craft stash that you already own to create a fun project.

I decided to makeover small black lumbar pillow into a super fun bohemian Moroccan pillow to add to my collection. I had planned to toss this little pillow out.

I don’t know about you, but I have a bad habit of buying those small pillows in the dollar section of Target. They are just so cute. This one has such an interesting shape, so I knew I could change it into something quirky & fun.

So grab some leftover yarn and felt let’s make a pillow!

DIY Boho Moroccan Pillow

Supplies:

Instructions:

make pom poms with pom maker

Make ten poms from the yarn using the clover pom maker. See my Pom Pom post for the tutorial on how to make them.

cut strips of felt

Cut four triangles out of the pink and orange felt using a rotary cutter and mat. Trim them down to 1/2 wide. Glue them to the pillow with glue gun using fabric glue sticks.

sew knots into the pillow

Using yarn make stitch knots in a diamond shape on top and bottom of triangles. Sew stitches on felt with black string. Stitch your poms to the pillow vertically.  Trim off extra strings and that’s it! This turned out to be a funky addition to my bohemian decor. The pink pops of color mix in perfectly with my other pillows.

Love it? Pin it!
