Create a Front Entrance Mudroom with a Hall Tree!

It’s a new year and it’s time to refresh with new beginnings! My first inspiration this year is to declutter and improve my ten-year-old house so I can fall in love with it again. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t love my home, I just feel like the honeymoon is over.
Do you remember what it was like when you first moved into your new home? You’re excited, maybe overwhelmed, but you have all these ideas and inspirations for what you want it to look like.
It’s exciting picking out just the right piece of furniture or paint. Then after painting all the rooms and slowly furnishing each one, by the time you get everything like you want it, a fresh new trend will come along and make you feel you need to start over. Well, I’m almost ten years in and I’m starting to feel this way.
Back in December, the great team over at Kohl’s asked me if I would be interested joining in on their Spring Home Refresh January Sale. I knew this is just what I needed to get in gear to start my home makeover!
I chose to refresh my entryway and let me explain why. We rescued a new puppy that is a big fan of chewing up shoes.
We were using a cute tray to throw our shoes by the door before the fuzzy culprit moved in. When she arrived I had to move the tray to the top of a chest I had in my dining room. Not cute.
So looking through the Kohl’s Home Department there were so many amazing items for the home to choose from. Way more items than you will find in the store.
After days of trying to decide and figure out just the right piece, I chose the Crosley Furniture Entryway Bench.
I have always wanted to install built-in’s for a mud room and I actually have room to build one, but that space is now occupied by a huge dog kennel.
This super cute Hall Tree gave me the mudroom I always wanted plus it filled an empty spot in my dining room. I’d rather have this in my dining room than a dog kennel.
The bench part has a top that lifts up to store your shoes!! Problem solved! Let me tell you, I am so in love with this piece, I can not stop looking at it!! Don’t you just love when just the right design or furniture fits a room perfectly? Well, this hall tree does just that!

Love your hexagons! And the bench – I’m always wishing there was a more convenient place to put shoes on than on the couch (though it is rather close). I have one pair of shoes that absolutely must be untied before I can put them on again (though, really, I should do that to all shoes, but meh!) and having a place right inside for that would be awesome!
