I have been constantly changing out the wall art over my fireplace for the last two years. I’ve been trying to get just the right art print to complement my decor. I wanted something colorful yet subtle. We have tons of pictures of the California “Golden hour”, or hour before sunset when everything is glowing.
When my friends at Photowall.com asked me if I would like to create some wall art. I jumped at the chance to make the fireplace shine with a sunset scene from our beautiful coastline.
I chose a pic that was taken on the dunes looking towards Malibu, CA. In the pic you can see all the way around from my neighborhood to Marina Del Rey to Santa Monica and then onto the mountains of Malibu.
When conditions are favorable you can see the phenomenal “green flash” when the sun entirely sets below the horizon when the tip of the upper edge is still visible. I have yet to see it, but my husbands swears he has. The jury is still out on that.
Beach Scene Canvas Wall Art
Getting your favorite image on canvas is easy with Photowall.com. You can choose from their vast selection of images on their site or upload your own and create a more personalized canvas wall art.
I uploaded my image, chose my sizing and edge, checked out and my print was on its way. One of the things that makes this company unique is you do the canvas stretching yourself with their simple canvas kit.
When you order arrives, you will receive a rolled up canvas and a kit with a wood frame that has adhesive edges.
You unroll the canvas, place the wood frame pieces on the edges of the canvas. Remove the adhesive backing on the wood and press them into the edges of the canvas.
Fold the corners in and press down to adhere them to the adhesive on the ends of the wood frame.
Roll the sides inward until they reach one another. Use the included bracket kit to tighten and secure the canvas. Do not tighten the bolts all the way, only add them to the brackets.
Staring in one corner go around and tighten down all of the bolts on the frame. Turn the canvas over and hang!
