This year we are completely starting over with our holiday decorations. When packing for our big move across the country, I gave away my all but one storage bin of Christmas decorations. Years of ornaments, garlands and even that gorgeous flocked tree from my Boho Christmas posts, all gone.
I am starting fresh and I want minimal and simple. The simplicity and patterns of Scandinavian holiday decor have been on my radar and with the limited space and style of our 1950’s bungalow, it is the perfect choice for minimal holiday decor. Since we live at the beach it’s only natural to have a tropical vibe weaved into the decor as well.
This season I am partnering with my friends at Oriental Trading Company to show you just how easy it is to create your own Christmas style using their fun craft supplies and products. Be sure to check out the product list at the bottom of the post so you can create your own version of the holidays for your decor. Let’s get started!
P.S. The tutorials for all of the projects shown below will be posted soon!
Creating Simple Scandinavian Style Holiday Decor
To start with, I bought a gorgeous sparse Alpine Fir Christmas tree as my starting focal point. Then I got my craft supplies out to create some fun vintage and Nordic style accent pieces.
First up is this fun DIY winter white Scandinavian Christmas village set. I covered this fun paper DIY House Assortment with a fuzzy blanket like fabric. I painted the roofs white and removed the bases to make them light up like lanterns!

I created this sweet vignette using the Holiday Handicraft Wood Tree Set, some fun mini fur trees, my boho wood carved tree and that tall beauty in the back is the Rustic Angel Tabletopper. That angel is so sweet. She stands 21 inches tall, has fur wings and is flecked with silver paint. We just love her!

Next in line is this fun set of painted Nordic Reindeer! You make them with the DIY Unfinished Wood Standing Reindeer Set. These cuties were so much fun to create! I used a paint pen to draw the pattern and covered the antlers with white glitter. They are so fun and unique. The giant snowflake wall art is the Winter Wonderland Snowflake. I know this piece will get a lot of use for Christmases to come.

If you look closely you will see the Champaign Glitter Trees. They were made using the DIY 3D Unfinished Wood Stand Up Tree set. See the tutorial on how I made these sparkle!

Another fun project in this vintage setup is the DIY Snowy Pine Tree. I was made with a DIY Tall Christmas Trees paper cone and some Snowy Pine Floral Picks. I have it standing on a wood candlestick for height. Last but not least is that cute Vintage Lighted Ceramic Christmas Tree. It’s the perfect addition to my decor.

I love the look of greenery all over during the holidays. Since I such a small space I decide to add these small Black Spruce Wreaths to the chairs with some champaign satin ribbon and safety pins! This is a super easy way to add a pop of holiday and it makes the kitchen festive too!

Here is a close up of the wreaths so you can see how pretty they look and so realistic!

Here is a shot of my holiday bar cart! There you will see Large Christmas Sisal Trees, a Handcrafted Wood Tree and my favorites the Rattan Natural Lanterns. Tucked into the back there is the DIY Unfinished Wood Christmas Tree Shelf.

This is only the beginning of my holiday decorating. I have to get so many things since I am starting over. I still need to get my front door fireplace garlands and wreaths, stockings, and ornaments! To start with I had to have these Mirrored Ball Ornaments. At 2.25 inches, they are much larger than the ones you usually find online.
I hope you have enjoyed my mini holiday home and craft tour. I definitely need to do another one closer to Christmas when I am finished decorating for the holidays.
Happy Holidays!
