Make your Christmas decor more modern this year with these Sparkling Modern Holiday Tree Decorations! Just shave down some foam cones and add some paint and glitter and you have some unique home decor for the holidays this year.
I think minimal geometric holiday decor is easy on the eyes, I guess because of the cleans lines. I was inspired to make these trees because I love the simplistic charm of Scandinavian holiday decorations. I keep seeing these made out wood in the stores. But why not make them out of foam!
These trees made their first debut on the Floracraft® Make it: Fun® blog. Today I am showing you how to create sharp lined modern trees to decorate your home this season! It’s easy to shape cylinder Floracraft® Make It: Fun cones into sleek triangle shapes using a sharp knife and Floracraft Smooth Finish coating.
Sparkling Modern Holiday Tree Decorations
- Floracraft® Make It: Fun foam cones: Size (1) 3 7/8 x 8 7/8, (2) 3 7/8 x 11 7/8, (1) 2 7/8 x 5 7/8
- Floracraft® Make It: Fun Smooth Finish Coating: 1 8oz Jar
- Sharp Knife or Foam Cutter
- Fine Grit Sand Paper
- Acrylic Paint
- Gold Glitter
Using a serrated knife, start by cutting straight down from the tip of the cone to make flat edges on 4 sides.
Sand the edges smooth and straight with fine grit sandpaper. Apply Smooth Finish with a spatula on all four side of the tree and let it dry. Smooth edges with fine grit sandpaper.
Tape 1/3 of the tree with painters tape and paint the tip with gold acrylic paint and sprinkle with glitter while the paint is still wet. Remove the tape and let the glitter and paint dry.
I just love how they turned out! I love all the shades of green with that pop of teal and glitter. Plus the foam makes them look a little like cement!
LOVE IT? PIN IT!
