Create this fun heart pallet door hanger for your home this Valentine’s Day. I found a simple heart shaped pallet sign and added fun ball trim, ribbon and lettering I made on my Silhouette Cameo.
But don’t worry if you do not have a dye-cutting machine like a Silhouette or Cricut, you can get a very similar look with pre-made letters from the craft store.
One of my favorite things about this door hanger is the gold “love” lettering. I created it with Silhouette printable gold foil. I can’t get enough of that stuff I want to make everything out of it!
The gold foil is nice and thick and has a perfect shine. Here’s how I put it all together.
How to make the Wood Heart Door Hanger
Supplies:
- Wood Heart Sign
- Silhouette CAMEO or Adhesive Letters
- Silhouette Printable Gold Foil
- Red Polka Dot Cardstock
- Red Ball Trim
- Chevron Ribbon
- Bakers Twine Red & White
- White Acrylic Paint
- Spray Adhesive
- Hot Glue and Gun
Instructions:
Add a white wash of paint to the pallet using white acrylic paint. I mixed the paint with water to thin it.
With a sponge applicator, lightly paint the wood, make sure to let the wood show through the paint. Let it dry.
How to make the Letters on a Silhouette Cameo
Cut the letters out with Silhouette Cameo machine, using the fonts, Prata and Brannboll Fet and they are around 1.5 inches for “True” and 1.75 to 2.5 inches for the word “love”.
If you do not have a Silhouette Cameo you can use adhesive letters found at your local craft store. Add your letters to the pallet.
Use spray adhesive to the back of the polka dot cardstock of the word “true” to adhere it to the pallet. The foil word “love” already has adhesive on the letters. Just place it and smooth it out.
Finish the Wood Heart Door Hanger:
Replace the jute twine hanger that came with the wood heart pallet with bakers twine.
Add red ball trim to the edge of the heart and ribbon to the bottom with hot glue. And that’s it!
To me this kind of looks like a winning ribbon in a contest! The words can be changed to something like #1 Mom, etc. for other projects.
SO adorable!
