I’ve had this cute bohemian satchel for awhile now, and since the whole tassel fringe trend has taken over, I knew I could give this well loved purse a makeover!
I added some, DIY fringe, upholstery tassels, tiny dingle ball trim and one of my DIY Rope Tassels. The old girl was a little worn out from tons of use, but now with her new groovy facelift, she is fabulous!!! I love it!!! Here’s what I did~
DIY Boho Tassel and Fringe Purse
- A plain purse or satchel
- Grey jersey knit t-shirt or blouse
- Blue tassel trim for upholstery or the home ~Similar to this Trim
- Orange Mini Pompom Ball Trim
- Sharp scissors
- Hot glue for fabric and gun
- See DIY Bohemian Rope Tassels post for instructions on how to make the clip.
Cut the t-shirt across the center with sharp scissors. Do not cut ends off yet. Take the center piece of t-shirt and fold in half. Cut long 5 to 6 inch strips into the fabric to make the fringe.
Unfold and cut one end open so you have one long strip of fringe. Fold the fabric over at the top of the fringe and hot glue it down so you have a neat edged hem.
Fold the fabric over at the top of the fringe and hot glue it down so you have a neat edged hem.
Add the fringe to the purse edges with hot fabric glue and gun. I added another strip of the left over fringe to the bottom of the purse. Add your tassel fringe to the front edge of the purse and then two strips down the front with the hot glue.
**You may need to work with the look of the purse you are using to place your accents. Add the orange trim to the top edge of the purse with hot glue.
Clip a rope tassel to the back of the button on the front closure. Trim the fringe on the bottom of the purse and that’s it!! Love, love, love it! I can’t wait to wear this on vacation this year! I hope you liked this post! If so Please Tweet it!
