Tips for this recipe>>

Can I use Cookie Dough Instead of Cake Mix?

Of course you can! Here’s some tips…

  • You can use any cookie as a base, even a store-bought pre-made cookie!
  • You can use different flavored cake mixes. Watch the box size though, with larger boxes, you will need to adjust the butter amounts.
  • You can use decorative icing for the eyes and nose.
  • You can use the some of the melted chocolate and add orange and black food coloring gel to make the eyes and nose.

MAKE AHEAD: Place leftovers in an airtight container and keep it on the counter for up to 2 weeks.

FREEZER: Place leftovers in an airtight container and keep it in the freezer for up to 3 months.

  • You can optionally add cute earmuffs to the snowman using Twizzlers licorice and M&M’s. You do have to hold the candy pieces in place until the chocolate fully dries so this step can take quite some time.

  • Once all the cookies have cooled, add about 1/2 of a tablespoon of melted chocolate and carefully cover the tops of each cookie. If some chocolate drips off the cookie, that is ok. We want the snowman to look as if it is melting.
  • Work in batches so that the chocolate does not dry before decorating.
  • Add the snowman head, pretzel arms, M&M buttons, and twizzler scarf to the cookie before the chocolate cools.
  • Let the chocolate set for 10-20 minutes or place them in the refrigerator to speed the process.

  • Use your own homemade cookie recipe or you can use any cookie base, even store bought, and just decorate the tops to be melting snowmen.
  • You can use any boxed cake mix flavor you like however if you use a bigger box you will need to adjust the amount of butter used in the recipe.
  • If you don’t have butter, use equal amounts of vegetable oil.
