Let me show you how easy it is to make both of these hand-drawn art projects using stencils!
You can make store-bought home decor easily in minutes using fabric markers, a pillow cover, and a pretty frame.
Stencils work great to personalize any space, by accenting your walls, home decor, crafts, or furniture.
Even if you haven’t tried stenciling before, you can get professional-looking results by using these great tools.
Owl Stencil Painting Design for Pillow Cover
Supplies:
- Owl Wall Stencil in the size that will fit your pillow cover Similar Owl
- Tulip Fabric Markers
- 18 inch decorative pillow cover & insert
- Painters tape
- Elmer’s Spray Adhesive
- Piece of cardboard or plastic sheet
Instructions:
Before you start, please read: The stencil I am using is a large size, it is made for repeated use on a large wall or area, for a wallpaper-type look.
This is why I cut my stencil into sections using a rotary cutter and mat. Please skip this step if you are going to use the stencil to paint an entire wall. You could paint and/or stencil the wall first, then cut the stencil for use on smaller decor items.
Iron your pillow cover and smooth out any creases from the packaging. Insert a piece of cardboard inside the pillow to make a flat smooth surface to work on.
You also need the cardboard or plastic so the markers {or paint} do not bleed through the fabric onto the other side of the pillow cover.
Lightly spray your stencil with Elmer’s adhesive and place it in the center of the pillow cover.
Tape the edges down with masking tape so they are secure.
With a black fabric pen hand draw lines at angles in the center of the cutout shapes of the stencil.
Remove the stencil, touch up any areas, add your insert, and enjoy!
