Christmas cookies are one of the best parts about the holidays. There’s nothing quite like a warm, fresh cookie straight out of the oven.
When my kids were little I would bake sugar and gingerbread cookies. Then the kids would make a huge mess decorating them. Those were good times.
One year I was invited to a cookie exchange party. I scoured Pinterest to find the easiest but tastiest cookie to take to the party.
It can be a lot of pressure to make cookies for a crowd. Especially if you are new at baking. Most people just use a tried and true family cookie recipe, but when you don’t have one to use it can be intimidating.
You don’t want to make a cookie that flops. Which is why I put together this huge list of some of my favorite cookies and the ones I have seen at a cookie exchange parties in the past.
What is a Cookie Exchange Party?
A cookie exchange party is where you make a few (or more) dozen cookies to share with all of the people invited to the party. The host sets up tables to display the cookies and then you go around and take 1-2 cookies and put them in a to go box to take home.
There is usually a prize for the best cookie and a fun game to play like the “White Elephant Exchange”. This way everyone leaves with a bunch of cookies and a prize! It’s really fun!
