Comforting Beef Tips Mushroom Gravy

Today I am sharing one of our favorite old-time family recipes. Beef tips with Mushroom gravy over rice. There are so many different versions and ways to make this deliciously easy dish.

What I love about this dish is if you do not have all the ingredients on hand there are other ways to throw this dish together. You can get almost the same taste every time if you know what to use or substitute.

Optional ways to make the Gravy for Beef Tips:

  • Use jarred sauce/gravy like: Franco American Mushroom Gravy or other brands of gravy, in beef or mushroom flavors.
  • Another option is 1 can of Cream of Mushroom soup & 1 can of water.
Comforting Beef with Tips Mushroom Gravy

Slow Cooker Beef Tips Mushroom Gravy:

This recipe can be made in a slow cooker on Low for 2+ hours or until fork-tender. Just be careful not to overcook the meat. Smaller cuts of meat will cook faster than thicker meats.

Beef Tips w/ Mushroom Gravy & Rice

Easy stovetop or slow cooker dish. Beef Strips slow cooked with mushrooms and onions until tender.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of beef strips
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thin
  • 1 small package of fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cans of Franco American Mushroom Gravy {See other gravy optionsnotes below}.
  • ½ of a packet Lipton Recipe Secrets, Dry Onion Mushroom Soup
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • Brown rice
  • 2 tbsp cooking Sherry, optional

Instructions

  • In a deep fry pan on med-high heat lightly brown the beef strips, tossing 1-2 min.
  • Add onions and all of the mushrooms.
  • Add the two cans of gravy and the Lipton Soup mix.
  • Add in the cooking sherry.
  • Stir to blend.
  • Heat until it’s a bubbly boil.
  • Turn heat down to low, cover and simmer for 1 hour until the beef is fork tender.
  • Make the rice as per directions.
  • Serve over rice, egg noodles or mashed potatoes

NOTES

  • You can substitute the Franco American Mushroom Gravy with other brands of gravy, beef or mushroom.
  • Another option is 1 can of Cream of Mushroom soup & 1 can of water.
  • This can be made in a slow cooker on Low for 2-3 hours or until fork-tender. Be careful not to overcook small cuts of meat when using a slow cooker.
