If you’ve been missing the Seafood Sensation sub from Subway, you’re not alone! This creamy imitation crab salad was a fan favorite for years—until it quietly disappeared from most locations.

But don’t worry, you can still enjoy that same nostalgic flavor at home with this super simple DIY seafood salad recipe.

I’ve always loved sub sandwiches made with imitation crab salad—it’s my go-to favorite! Unfortunately, places like Subway and Which Wich have either discontinued their crab salad subs or no longer offer them. Maybe they didn’t sell well enough to stick around—who knows? It makes me sad, though.

I decided to start making my own version at home. For a while, I’d grab the Neptune Salad from Publix and load it onto submarine rolls to satisfy the craving, but eventually, I came up with my own easy and delicious recipe!

I moved away from the East Coast a couple of years ago, and there are no Publix stores out here on the West Coast. So, now I have to make the crab salad recipe from Subway from scratch.

  1. Can’t wait to try this! I missed the seafood sandwich at Subway. It was my go to back when they had it.

  2. Marido Trofeo says:

Made this today with the addition of some finely diced salad shrimp, some parsley, and some Old Bay seasoning. We also used homemade mayonnaise made with Maille mustard.

This recipe is spot on as we remember the long-gone Subway seafood salad. Thanks for sharing!

it’s been a long time since I’ve had the seafood salad sandwich from Subway. but this recipe is a good replacement!

I’m looking forward to see how the salad will freeze and defrost.

thank you for the great recipe!!

    1. Hi Sarah, I am not so sure freezing this salad would make it turn out ok. I updated the post. I have frozen the seafood enchiladas with imitation crab and they are just fine. Best,
      Kim

  4. Old bay. You need old bay.

  5. I love me some good krab, and great recipe… but I never really understood what is in it? Is it like the hot dog of fish parts?

    1. Lol, Dan you are cracking me up. Surimi is pollock fish mixed with a salt and sugar paste, then reconstructed to look like expensive seafood, like lobster or crab. I am not sure why they need to fool us.
